feedback tone when closing the lid

#1 Post by PaulS » Sun Jul 25, 2004 2:34 am

I just noticed that when I close the lid on a T40 with Windows XP, I get a loud tone (like the tone you get when you have the microphone too close to the speakers on a stereo system).

The tone can be turned off by muting the speakers under Windows XP.

Does anyone know what is causing this behaviour?

tone when closing lid

I should have said a loud, continuous tone. I wasn't aware that closing the lid would cause any noise being generated by the computer so I don't think this is normal behaviour. Oh well ...

You can disable that tone.

Go to Control Panel, Power Options, Beeps/Alarms, and then you can disable "lid close action beep".
