Windows security alerts

#1 Post by laz » Fri Mar 24, 2006 2:15 am

Every time I boot up my computer, windows pops up a bubble telling me that my comptuer may not be secure etc, which can be really annoying. Several times I've gone into the security center control panel -> Alert Settings and unchecked everything, but the next time I go there there are always a few alerts checked again. Anyone know how to get windows to stop doing this? It's really frustrating!

Try going to www.kellys-korner.com click on XP tweaks and start looking down the page for #11 "disable ballon tips or disable all". Run that and be free.

The other thing to do, is when that bubble pops up, click on it. Go into the Security Control Center. At the bottom, I believe that there is an option for the Virus Settings. Instead of just choosing to disable alerts, there should be an option to let you manage the virus programs. Since I have an Anti-Virus program on mine, I can't find the option now, but I know it is there, because I have had to disable it on systems that I have sold, and put AVG on.
