hahaha, comparing me with van gogh is a little too much

My dream is chroming my laptop, but it's a tad expensive, so I'm going to do that when I have some more money.

here is a pic of my phone (witch is chrome)

hahaha, sun? (we don't have that in Holland).

By the way, the lid is not facing you, so I will not have a problem. (other people that are near me do, but I don't!)

I remember the summer last year we did.

And I thought you meant the whole laptop, not only the cover.

I know what you mean! Darn it was hot that summer.

Plastic is not able to be chromed. ( on a small scale).

Yep, it looks cool.

BUT ask him again to take some pics of his laptop in about 6 months. I can tell you there will be alot of scrathes on it. (this is because it was painted instead of powdercoated).

I think this one would be more of a "keep in the office" type than actually carry around in a bag, because taking it in and out of the case would definately put some quick wear on it.

It is definately an interesting way to meet people.

As for the glossy black, I agree, it will get pretty scratched up. Though, for the 600E that I am going to paint myself....I don't plan on taking it anywhere. I just plan to paint it, take pics, and store it on the shelf as my little prize...my own personal little contribute to my own personal museum of Thinkpads.

Well, if you are looking for a conversation piece as opposed to a nice laptop, then you should use the oldest thing you can find. Today I brought to school with me the old Epson 486 laptop I recieved yesterday and loaded Win 3.1 and Office on and I got sooo many funny looks, gestures and comments, mainly regarding the small b&w screen and Win 3.1 though also I got a few comments aobut the lack of mouse.

As for case painting/covering, one that I like alot is this faux wood job some guy did to his PowerBook: http://www.applefritter.com/node/502

That lid is perfect. How do I get one? What was the total cost?

Did you do a before and after weighing?

Excellent job.

Seriously, I'd mod my beloved T40 in a second with that lid...

well, cost where about 130 buks. I had it powder coated by a friend, but at low cost.
The weight is about the same, maybe like 50 grams more, but even that I doubt.

Thanks for the compliment!

I think orange and black are quite good as a combination. However, I guess, a non-polished orange would be better.
or even that matte yellow, with black.

I know a certain friend of mine at a school where the colors are actually a tiger-like orange and a matte black and might *really* like something like that. :)

She, actually; my only sticking point is that She likes to do this stuff on her own. Computer mods, install just about any OS possible on a laptop, etc. I am pretty sure the only thing that she hasn't done is powdercoat the lid of a Thinkpad (Far worse nerd than I am). Maybe.... ;) :)

Toine, those pics look great! Im glad that everything worked out good for you. This sure was quite a project huh....but I enjoyed doing it, and if anyone else is interested, all you basically have to do, is send me JUST the metal cover and I can do it. I want someone to do a Gloss Yellow next. THAT would look very cool. Well, I will catch you on MSN Messenger sometime. I am really busy this month....were moving into a new house, and I am also building a new Powder Coating shop....so busy busy! Thanks again for posting up those pics. Very cool.

Oh, so you want a TransNote! ;)

Actually, both my t-notes have the Endurimer cover. I wanted to switch my daily driver to leather, but it turns out that none of the web-sites that advertise having the leather replacement covers actually have them
