I just got a T42 and I love it, but there is one little thing that bugs me. The Fn key is right where I'm used to having ctrl, which leads to some annoyance when trying to ctrl+z, ctrl+x, etc. Searching the IBM site for ways to fix this by setting Fn+whatever to act as ctrl, I found these two programs:

You'd think at least one of them would do the trick, but that isn't the case. All they seem to do is install copies of the ThinkPad software installer on various spots on my computer, and lots of executables that look to be the right things but simply don't work such as this one:

I'm about at my wits end, so any advice on how to make this work would be greatly appreciated.
Getting keyboard customization to work
I've got a similar problem with a T-41. I've set the right alt key to act as a Windows key with limited success. Once in a while it will work but usually it doesn't; for whatever reason, it will clear the 'enable key assignments' box on the Keyboard Customized screen.
I'm using version 1.2.72.0 and would update it, but the IBM ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility entry does not appear in the Add/Remove programs list.

Well, I guess I have to dig deeper into the IBM installed utilities. Using the Thinkpad software installer I was able to remove the old Keyboard Customizer Utility, and after installing the latest keyboard customizer version, it seems to be working fine.
This is my first IBM and overall the T-41 is very impressive
