Windows XP Cleartype

I have been using a lower resolution on my T43p abd T42 for years. It was just now that I learned about Windows Cleartype on this forum.

Anyone wanting better font on a 15" LCD screen using a lower than native resolution has to try this.

Usually it's enough to turn on Cleartype in Desktop Properties, Appearance, Advanced. But the tuner can help for cases where the monitor has a non-standard color order (BGR instead of RGB), and apparently it can do some softer tweaks to adjust the look exactly to the user.

Personally, I love Cleartype and turn it on even on my CRT monitors. Some people tell me that it looks blurry and gives them headaches. Crazy drunk [censored].

yup... only way to make fonts on non-mac systems look tolerable.

i think mac's fonts are already as good as clear type.

I could swear i saw a freeware program mentioned somewhere that woudl emulate cleartype. Maybe try googling. Sorry if i'm totally wrong.

Apple has been anti-aliasing for years. That's essentially what "Cleartype" is when you break it down. It's anti-aliasing with LCD displays in mind.
