New BIOS Update Won't Run

#1 Post by dagordon » Sat Mar 25, 2006 10:47 pm

Hi all,
I'm having this problem on a T40 and a T40p -- I'm trying to update the BIOS using the program that was just released on the 22nd. I've done this a thousand times on these machines. But this time, the updater doesn't start when the machines reboot. I run the program, click Next a bunch of times, and the computers restart -- and then Windows loads up.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
David

Thanks for the response. I guess we'll just have to wait for an updated updater.

I normally run the update using the Software Installer. It worked fine for me the other day with the latest BIOS. Maybe give that a try?

Same problem with the latest BIOS update, run either through System Update or manually. I go through the installer; the computer restarts; nothing. Windows loads normally. I can install it off a floppy, but this is annoying.

Anyone else?

I had the same problem. In my case, I happened to have a spare hard drive with basically the original factory preload software and drivers on it (loaded from the Product Recovery Disc set). The BIOS update worked from that drive. It would not work from the drive I normally use, which has all the updates and additional software that I use.

FWIW, I'm sure the floppy would work.

I successfully updated my T40 2373-PM1 without a hitch, and as with the above poster I had the HDD and software as per factory spec.

I had to unistall the system update and reinstall the software installer because the second one was telling me that a BIOS update wa available when i already have the latest.

System update is not working as it should! :x

Hi all,
I'm having this problem on a T41...I run the program (Bios up date), click Next a bunch of times, and the computers restart -- and then Windows loads up.

Any news about this topic?

Can anybody solve this problem? I have the same problem with my ThinkPad T43, and now i can't get BIOS update successfully. The system just reboot and load into windows XP instead the BIOS update page appear.

My TP is T43 2668-4EA.

Please give me if have you have the solution.
Thank you.
