So what's the bootup splash screen on the T60?
Is it the old IBM Thinkpad logo, or is it the "Thinkpad: a product of Lenvo" logo that I heard about someone having on their R51e? A picture would be nice
Thinkpad T60 2613-CTO (2\4m\667, 3GB, 200GB 7200, DVD-RW DL, SXGA+, 3945ABG, 128MB x1400, GBe, BT IV)
Thinkpad T40 2373-PU7 (1.7\2m\400, 2GB, 120GB 5400, DVD\CDRW, SXGA+, Intel 2915ABG, 32MB MR7500, GBe, BT II)

Thinkpad T23 2648-PS1 (1.2, 512mb, 2915ABG)
This is my first Thinkpad so I don't know what it use to look like but on the right side there is the Centrino symbol and below it in small letters it says "a product of lenovo". Then across the bottom taking up most of the screen it just says "Thinkpad".

Cooler, though, is the fact that you can supply your own boot image for inclusion when you flash the BIOS. Instructions are even included with the BIOS flash package from Lenovo. Sweet!

back to the old IBM Thinkpad logo I will go
anyone got a pic of the new bootscreen? just curious, really.
Mandrake, it used to be a black screen with the IBM Thinkpad logo, like the one on the lid. then with the Centrino notebooks and a later BIOS revision, they added the centrino logo on the right side.

yuck. that blue Lenovo thing looks way out of place... Would look better under the Thinkpad logo...

Does anyone have a picture of this BIOS splash screen of old?
(I doubt people keep pictures of BIOS splash screens sitting around in their picture collections for years on end, so maybe a more appropriate question is if anyone has a link to an IBM graphic which is a good representation of it?)
I'm just curious -- as I did use a few of the Thinkpad 7xx series way back in the 90s, but forgot what it looked like.
I bet it would add a nice touch to a T60 "boot-up experience".

That's what I remember and like: the striped, multicolored, diagonal IBM logo. Sweet. (In other words, just like the physical logo which is still situated on the Thinkpad case to this day... which you did mention a few posts back.
I wonder -- was the splash screen similar/the same going back to the 7xx series? (Anyone out there with a series 701c, 76x, 77x, etc.?)

Why stand in the way of progress - the multi-coloured IBM logo is so 80's and tacky that it's time to let go - hopefully it will get changed soon to the ThinkPad logo on the case as I don't think they need the IBM logo on to sell them.CupOfJoe wrote:Ahh... Eh .... call me a stodgy old tech-head, but sometimes I'm just too stubborn to let go of such mundane things as the style of a company logo.
It's one of those "in the eye of the beholder" things. (Off topic, tangentially related analogy: I still have a hard time seeing anyone but Sean Connery playing James Bond...)
But yet I'm not that stuck on the past where I don't get excited about new technology (hence my T60p on order!)

Like joe said, it's just personal preference. I like the old IBM Thinkpad logo more than this one.
Lenovo paid for rights to use that logo for something along the lines of 10 years(iirc), so whynot use it? It has corperate brand identity, and can help sell machines.

Anyone know how I can change the new ThinkPad lenovo startup screen to the old T4/R5 IBM ThinkPad startup? This is a very good image of all the ThinkPad startup screens.

Anyone have the floppy disk driver to change the Startup Screen? I use to have it for my ThinkPad 560X but lost it along time ago and can't find it under lenovo site since all IBM's drivers and such has been moved their.
