Supposedly it is faster than the 1.8'' 4200rpm's in the X40's and no whining noise to boot!

With one of these drives, the X41 would become even better. No noise from harddrive or fans (turned off via Fan Controller), and no laggy performance due to the 1.8" drive.
Battery life would also increase.

Sounds like a great investment for the X41.
The price is, on the other hand, hard to swallow at almost ~$1000.
IMO, a 16 GB model, priced at $500 would be more attractive.

I think the problem, as someone pointed out elsewhere on the boards, is the limited re-writes available with flash memory. I don't know for sure, but raises the question as to the average lifetime of a 32GB flash drive. Besides that, I'm with both of you: would be excellent!

Sounds nice, but:
a) will it match the special connector of the X4*-series,
b) will it ever be sold? About a year ago Samsung announced a 16 GB flash drive for notebooks. It never became available, it seems. And this new announcement for a 32 GB version is again rather vague about release dates - "soon", "not too distant future". Will they announce a 64 GB version next year? I'm beginning to think that Samsung's flash drives are vaporware.

wow, this would be neat to have, but way too expensive. very few consumers will pay $1000/32GB (or $31.25/GB) just to shave off a few seconds of boot time and reduce power consumption. i see more than 80% of ppl using their notebook at a desktop anyway.
