Screen pixel question

#1 Post by baehrlich » Sun Mar 26, 2006 7:19 am

It seems as if pixels periodically either go light or dark. After a couple of shut-downs/reboots, they seem to go away, only to be replaced with a different one, sometimes a bit later.
What is going on here?

I'm having the same problem. I've even created a PowerPoint presentation that I can flip through quickly to test for dead pixels. On average everything looks fine, but occationally I find a temporarily "dead" pixel.

What screen do you have? I have the MaxBright screen, and I've been wondering if this is a problem specific to this screen.

Sounds like you are describing the well-documented Ultranav Bug problem. Search this forum using the search button at the top of the page to read about it.

I actually noticed this on the forum just after posting, but I haven't had an opportunity to test the "fix" to see if this is the case. If this is just a bug with the software, that's great (it means my precious, expensive, new laptop doesn't have a flaw).

I'll post again when the problem pops up again and I can see if it matches the description of the Ultranav Bug.

Either the UltraNav "Bug" or it is a stuck pixel if it is white/grey/black in color. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Turns out you were correct... finally had the opportunity to test it, and determined it was indeed the UltraNav Bug.

Thanks,
