System Board Error?

Has anyone seen this error before? when I run a test in the BIOS I get the following back
DEV001
ERR 91
FRU 3610

After reading the hardware manual I found that FRU 36 is the battery pack and 10 is the system board. What I dont see is what is the error 91. I think this error is keeping me from installing XP on this system.

Some system Info:
I have the latest BIOS installed
Thinkpad 600e with 128mb ram

You have a bad battery pack. Take the main battery out and rerun the test. It should be ok.

Well I removed the battery and ran the test again with no errors. But when I try to install XP the screen goes black when the install starts.

Thanks that what I did. My battery has been dead for months now and I didnt need a system test to find that one the only test I need for that is to unplug the laptop

Thought I would just piggyback on this posting, since I seem to be experiencing nearly an identical problem.

I get the similar system test errors, but when I located and unplugged my CMOS battery and rebooted, now I get a 162, 163 error code (which are CMOS battery related codes, I think).

A voltage test of the CMOS battery seems to suggest that it's still got plenty of juice still showing. Am I reading the prior thread and interpreting correctly (or incorrectly) that "battery pack" is the large DC power source or the small CMOS battery back-up. Which battery pack are we talking about?

I always have those crossing feelings between being a genius and a moron when I answer my own questions.

In this case, I confirmed that removing the main DC battery pack was the offending component that was causing the error codes. I popped off the battery pack, re-intialized the lost data and time - and I'm back in business.
