Something to try, and don't laugh!
Unplug the power brink from AC, turn the plug 180 degrees and plug in again, i.e. reverse the polarity.
Sometimes works with 60Hz/50Hz buzzing from non-grounded devices.
Regards,
James

I've had no less than five power bricks with this T40. Four of them (including the current one) had very irritating noise problems.
This is not just an IBM/Lenovo problem. My experience with Dell and HP machines has been similar. This is probably an unfortunate result of cost cutting on the part of AC adapter suppliers.

All of the adapters I have seen thus far seem to be variation amongst the bricks and how they are made. My T43 brick has a tiny buzzing noise that I cannot even hear unless I put my ear against it; same goes for the one on my 701c Butterfly Thinkpad. Little high-pitched, high-frequency noise. Comes on most, if not all, laptop power bricks and is normal to some extent...but not to the point where you start hearing it a few feet away.K. I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I had the same problem with T42 and I live in your neighbour (Finland) and we have same 230 V electric system. T60 is coming and I hope it's power adapter is silent...kwramm wrote:I assume you are all from north america and this is a 110v/60 Hz problem? Or does anyone else have this problem too? sounds pretty annoying
