Port replicator ethernet problems

#1 Post by rmfred » Sun Mar 26, 2006 1:23 pm

I have a TP A21M model 2628 E1U - Win98 SE ...has been working just fine
I had been using a Mobility EasiDock 200E for lan connection and mouse/keyboard but it occasionally locks up now with a wireless mouse so I thought I'd dig out my old IBM TP port replicator and use it.

However, the ethernet port doesn't light up when the cable is connected. It appears all the proper drivers, lan settings etc are fine.

I've even tried the pcmcia linksys card and can't connect to lan that way either. The pcmcia shows as installed and working... all the tcpip protocol settings are the same as when I was using the EasiDock. .. indicator lights work when using linksys card, but they are all not green.

I show the correct adaptors in network config, but when looking at device manager, only dialup - infrared and linksys but nothing pertaining to the adapter for the port replicator.

I am at a loss to figure out where I should go or what I should try next. Can't believe I can't get either the port replicator or linksys to work.. because there shouldn't be any difference than using the EasiDock.

Any ideas on what I can try?
TIA

I had a sony a few years ago with a similar problem and there were too many ethernet devices installed. I uninstalled all but the one I was using and it was fine after,.
