Mediafire is timing out for me. Can you try imageboo.com or picpanda.com instead? They do free icon hosting.

Re: ibm thinkpad icons
sure

I basically took the thinkpad icon from here
http://www.iconarchive.com/show/lha-obj ... -icon.html
and modified it. I made smaller icons more recognizable & added touches involving stronger contrast or outline
Also, I added an enlarged version of the icon @ 256 x 256 so that it'd appear enlarged in very large view.
There's something stupid w/ Vista where if you have 128 x 128, it only shows up as 48 x 48 in a large thumbnail, in large view mode.
I plan to work on 256 x 256 to smooth it out. It doesn't look rough in "large view" but if you open up windows explorer & then select "extra large" view it does get broken up.

Re: ibm thinkpad icons
Thanks.
That icon looks good, but the IBM logo is grey rather than tri-color, and it looks a little washed out on a light colored desktop. On a black wallpaper it looks ok in contrast to the darker image, but I think a darker color with highlighting might look better.
Are you resizing from each resolution to the next? I try to go back to the original image every time to reduce to the new resolution. I take an image, clean, edit it and convert to PNG, and then do each size from that original PNG.
EDIT: Did you receive any more of the new Lenovo TP icons? The only ones I've seen so far is the recycle bin, and the ones in Lenovo Toolbox are a little similar.

Re: ibm thinkpad icons
Hey! I also resize from the original. The original icon was really really washed out.
I think the guys who made the original (from the vista icons link) purposely changed the IBM ThinkPad logo to Lenovo's ThinkPad, but I do like the IBM ThinkPad logo so I'll add that.
I fixed the 256 x 256 by resizing an actual image of ThinkPad T42P & also replaced 128 x 128 w/ same image.
I'll upload it after adding the tricolor logo when I get home. Thx.

Ah & no I haven't found more Lenovo icons, but I don't like them to begin with.
I actually wanna make a set of icons that match the one that I made recently.

Complete.

Re: ibm thinkpad icons
Also, there are utilities like TuneUp Utilities 2008 (shareware) that can change whole packs of system icons. The utility has a 30-days fully functional trial and after applying all needed changes, uninstalling it doesn´t remove any changes already made by it
IBM Lenovo Z61p | 15.4'' WUXGA | Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 2x 2.16GHz | 4 GB Kingston HyperX | Hitachi 7K500 500 GB + WD 1TB (USB) | ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 | ThinkPad Atheros a/b/g | Analog Devices AD1981HD | Win 7 x86 + ArchLinux 2009.08 x64 (number crunching)
Re: ibm thinkpad icons
That's usually a negative aspect of any software.
I also like to edit the registry as little as possible. I only did so once in Vista for an icon, because for some reason it wouldn't let a different icon be set for the card reader on my T61. I had to edit the entry for SD, so i could assign my mock MicroDrive SD icon.
Once I did that, it opened the door to change it with icon software too.
Speaking of which, I like Microangelo On Display, I can change the Control Panel icon and many more without any regedits.
I like the tablet icon.
EDIT: By the way, since most of the icons I create are for drives, when I can, I create autorun folders and inf's so I can move those drives to other PCs and still have the icons show. (Here's some of the my stuff showing on my VAIO)

Re: ibm thinkpad icons
Yeah, I extracted those from the newer TV apps when I downloaded them, but never used them for anything else. They're a different template than the current recycle bin ones. I thought the recycle bin was just the tip of the iceberg, and I do suspect there were more, but maybe they just didn't use them.

Re: ibm thinkpad icons
I'm sorry I didn't post this earlier. It's one of the more recent Lenovo created icons. I believe it installs with the Lenovo "ThinkVantage Tools" package (Not toolbox) and appears in "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers" for the Thinkpad once installed:

Re: ibm thinkpad icons
its not clear WHAT it is besides a black notebook..
to give it a thinkpad identity add a red dot to the keyboard and, maybe, a red, green and blue "IBM" to the top lid..

Actually, open it in your browser or native photo viewer and zoom in (Crtl+). I think you'll see the details I'm referring to.

Re: ibm thinkpad icons
If you must, then it should fit with the established style:
http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/3548/beakcrown.png
By the way, that X300 icon I posted came from this package: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-73962
Also, are the current models still using the same recycle bin/network/my computer icons as posted earlier? (Same background I used for Bill's) If so, I did a couple more based on that template that I could post. They are a bit like the retro ones ThinkPad R did (folders etc). It's not enough for another pack yet, but I could let a few fly.

It would look better set at 256x256 or less. That was just to tempt you. If you want the .ico, I could do it. Do you have a higher-res version toucan? That was the best I could do with your avatar. (Not sure how it's obscured when it's on top, though)
Just for the hell of it:

I mentioned some apps earlier like MicroAngelo (great), but I also use Photoshop too.
I tend to use PS and then ico it with MicroAngelo, although it can be done in PS too with a plugin

Re: ibm thinkpad icons
Hi,
I would really like do have the icons for my ThinkPad. For now I've got none of them, most of the Links previously posted are dead.
I am especially interested in the template-icon, the originals and the ones great users created themselves.
So, if you got some of the icons, please re-upload or send me PM!
I'd love to see Lenovo/IBM icons on my T61
