Fan doesn't run - but still noise

#1 Post by Marciavelli » Tue Mar 28, 2006 5:00 am

Hello,
initially thnak you all for the support regarding Fancontrol on my new T60. Now the fan problem is solved, but I can clearly hear some noise even when the doesn't run. Is this a normal iusse? It is possible to solve it?

Thank you very much again

If it is a whirring sound, then it is your HDD

If it is a faint, tiny buzzing noise, then it is electrical noise near a chip set that is doing something.

Normal, in both cases. :)

My AC adapter makes a lot of noise. Check to see if you have the same issue. It doesn't ground properly. They did not send me a US adapter so I bought one.

Hi christopher_wolf,
I have a T42 that is just like you described. Each time when I opened a new webpage, I can hear a faint and tiny buzzing noise. Then do you think which
chipset is emitting such noise?
And can it be repared by EzServ of lenovo?
Thanks

No need to have it repaired; unless it is *really* strange (i.e loud, etc)
all the laptops I have used thus far, some worse than others though
I have noticed similar things on other laptops I have used thus far. :)

I recently purchased a T60p (2623-DDU) and I also noticed this intermittent “buzzing”.
I personally think this is related to the wireless nic card/battery. My nic card is an Intel 3945 A/B/G by the way.

I tried a few tests by manually turning off the wireless switch located near the bottom left hand corner of the laptop. When it was turned off, the noise went away. When I turned it back on, it started the random buzzing noises again. (Only battery power)

The following test I plugged the A/C adapter into the laptop with the battery attached, and it still made the buzzing noise. At that point, I decided to remove the battery.

Low and behold, the buzzing went away! The battery creates interference with the wireless nic in my situation.

I really think this buzzing noise is not normal and is quite annoying.
