I was given the wonderful opportunity to do a complete re-install last week on my T43; one of the benefits of a modern operating system... and it has taken a week to sort it out. (One thing, which may be of assistance to others. I lost all access via the desktop but I was able to run an FTP program -fileZilla. While I could not access CD, USB port, etc. I was able to move files to my website and hence backup there.)
I re-installed with Rescue and Recovery; have the fingerprint s/w installed, version 4.5.3 build 167(int) on the Control Centre, and log in with a fingerprint. This is the IBM FingerPrint S/w, stored under the Access IBM menu, whereas a check on the directory listing of my previous installation was stored under the ThinkVantage menu. When I try to use the Client Security Password Manger, v6.01.0037, I get a message that the Fingerprint sensor is not properly connected or that all the required s/w is not installed.
I have tried to locate the ThinkVantage fingerprint installer, but all I get is IBM.
I have run Software installation; Software Update; have looked through the Lenovo site.
Fingerprint is enabled in BIOS; Security Mode is set to Secure; automatic log on verified by Power On Security.
Any suggestions?
TIA, Nick

Yup i had the same problem myself.
Software Installer will primarily give you IBM stuff, while system update usually upgrades it to Thinkvantage.
If neither program finds it, then un-install the ibm one and download it from here:

then do an update again

Thanks, Kam_, but no change. After uninstalling, Updater wanted to give me the Client Security installation and Rescue and Recovery (which it marked as about 1.3GB, but then only downloaded aout 300 MB). I ran the installation and then, after rebooting, nothing about Fingerprint.
I then tried the Installer and that noted the absense of the IBM Fingerprint s/w, which it duly installed.
The link you gave me is for what I installed earlier today, with the IBM installer; perhaps Lenovo have pulled the ThinkVantage update.

Follow Up. Got there Kam_.
My fault in that I did not read the readme properly. I assumed that the installation was a one step process. Instead, step one extracted the installation into the SWTOOLS folder, from where, Step 2, is to run that exe. (Hence the s/w at the link you gave is correct.)
Interesting, but not surprising, that the Updater did not pick it up!
Thank you for your assistance.
