Weird Display Problem on 600x

#1 Post by resuqk » Tue Mar 28, 2006 4:04 pm

hey all,
recently dusted off my old thinkpad 600x,
when i start it up its fine at 1024x768, but when applications switch to 800x600, the screen is stretched and very rough and out of focus. does anyone have any ideas about this?
thx in advance

What else would you expect?

LCDs should only be used at their default resolution, anything else results in what you're seeing.

Setting an XGA LCD to 800X600 will either result in a small window showing or, if the display is set to stretch, a grainy expanded image.

yes, i know, but one of my apps will only run at 800x600. i think that would be atlest better if i have a more focused small window
you say if the display is set to stretch, it will do that.
how do you set it to unstrech then.

While I haven't owned a 600X, you can try the following.

1) On the 600E, Fn + F8 turns screen expansion on and off.
2) In the ThinkPad Configuration program, there is a choice under LCD to turn screen expansion on or off.
3) On some ThinkPads there is a BIOS menu choice for this called HV expansion. It should be under display.
