T43, 2200BG and Access Connections :-(

#1 Post by Christian » Wed Mar 29, 2006 4:37 am

Hi,

I have a user with a wireless card: 2200BG that wants to connect to our WLAN which is WPA/TKIP/RADIUS based using EAP/PEAP but he simply can't connect. His machine authenticates as it is supposed to but he gets a bogus IP address (169.x.x.x). He has downloaded the newest Access-Connections 4.11a and the newest drivers for his netcard through Software Installer.

Anyone had similar experiences? I even exported my settings to him which didn't do any difference. :(

It not bogus, its in the default range that Windows XP assigns when it is set up for dynamic addressing but doesn't find a DHCP service to issue it with a dynamic address.

Try giving him a static IP in your subnet.

I have 20 other machines in production that gets a real ip address from our DHCP server so it local to the machine. Later yesterday I experienced the same problem with another IBM Laptop. Strange.. I will try assigning a static IP address to see if its our DHCP that has something against Thinkpads.
