Trackpoint doesn't work in Selectabase with external mouse

My 600E's trackpoint works fine outside of the selectabase but when I plug it into the docking station (with an external PS2 mouse) the trackpoint stops working. The external mouse works fine. When I take the 600E out of the Selectabase, I have to reboot to get the trackpoint to work again. Any suggestions how to get the trackpoint to work without rebooting each time?

This behaviour may be somewhat dependant on which version of which operating system you use. But the first step I would recommend is to try setting your Trackpoint to "Auto-Disable" in the ThinkPad Configuration utility. Have you got that installed on your machine?
