Wireless 3945abg card powers off after 3 minutes

#1 Post by wingrider » Wed Mar 29, 2006 3:38 pm

Got my 2623DDU yesterday. Out of the box the 3945ABG card worked fine at work. Got home, connected to my wireless hub at home fine and stayed connected.

Last night I installed all the Windows Updates and the Intel Chipset and ATI updates from IBM/Lenovo.

Now my 3945ABG card powers off exactly 3 minutes after being powered on, even when the laptop is running on AC power.

I've unchecked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the 3945ABG config power management tab. "Ad Hoc Power Management" is disabled. I've tried changing a few other settings to no avail.

Any ideas on what else I should check?

Thanks,

John

have you both called Lenovo to report this issue?

in the meantime, you might try the generic drivers on Intel's site, or try rolling back the WiFi driver in device manager to see if that fixes this issue.

Run Thinkvantage Connections and update your WiFi location profiles.

The latest update made connections forget all your previous settings and locales.

I've updated to the lastest driver from the Intel site and still have the problem. I will be calling Lenovo today.

By the way, the Intel drivers adds/enhances a GUI interface that looks pretty cool.

Tried out different options nothing worked.

Finally uninstalled Access Connections and using win to connect. Solved my problem.

Had the same problem with an R51 and and R51e, both with the IBM a/b/g card.

My resolution was to turn ON the card and then promptly reboot. After the reboot, it stopped turning off after three minutes.

I still scratch my head on this one.
