Thinkpad R40 I could use some help.

#1 Post by Laptop_wizard » Wed Mar 29, 2006 4:51 pm

I recently was given a thinkpad R40. 1.8GHZ 256mb of ram.

When I boot up it gives me error "0200 failure fixed disk" press F1 for setup.

Can any one help?

Thanks in advance.

Page 54 of the Hardware Maintenance Manual indicates that it is just as it reads a possible hard drive failure. Have you tried reseating the hard drive?

Hey thanks for the reply. I did end up figureing out that it is in fact a HDD failure. I replaced the HDD installed XP pro, as a matter of fact, I am tryping on it right now.

I am not sure if the origianl HDD can be fixed.

I guess we"ll see.
