T60p and games?
T60p and games?
I was wondering if anyone beside Ujeni.net tried some games on their t60/t60p?
I'm planning to get a t60p (I work as game artist) for 3D work with Maya and Zbrush because it is perfect for that, but I also want to play some games on it in my free time.
I don't think the t60p is right for FPS but I hope it will handle most other stuff. Right now I play World of Warcraft, Civilization 4, Age of Empires III and Oblivion.
But regardless what game you play, I would like to hear some experiences.
Cheers

I tried a couple of demos: Quake IV and Doom III. It was able to give me fairly decent frame rates even at exceptional detail levels and 1600x1200 resolution.
But I wouldn't call it particulary stable during play. It, on occasion quit arbitrarily, with no indication as to what the problem was.

Happily picks up his three grand; unhappily hands it over to another company.
I loaded up Civ 4 on my T60p and it runs great, even at the highest detail level. One graphics question: What does the "Anti-Aliasing multithreads" option do, exactly? I assume it has something to do with reducing jagged edges, but I'm not noticing a huge difference between the 0, 2, and 4 multithread settings.
I am fairly certain it was that. In my hurry to get rid of windows, I didn't look into the details. (For the first time, ever. I am a geek.)dr_st wrote:Possibly the compatibility issues between OpenGL games, such as Doom3 and Quake4 and the stock FireGL drivers.

I played Half-Life II and it runs awesome with the stock drivers. I even crancked up the resolution to 1400x1050, and it still runs well.
Will try Quake 4/Doom III just to see how they runs - but didn't have time so far - immediately after receiving the laptop, I went for a vacation and returned just yesterday.
