Another pixel just got stuck :(.

#1 Post by MrStaticVoid » Mon Jul 26, 2004 8:35 pm

Today I just noticed the 8th bad pixel on my machine. I accepted the others before, but this just broke the camels back so to speak. I now have 2 stuck red pixels, 2 stuck green pixels and 4 dead pixels. This is a 14" SXGA. Now somewhere I read that on an SXGA you must have 15 bad pixels to be replaced by the warrenty. Would I be wasting my time by trying to make a claim?

Thanks.

Hey neighbor,

IBM's Pixel criteria for LCD replacement. Although you don't have enough dead/stuck pixels, you should definitely call IBM, and ask for an LCD replacement. Are you still within the 30 days? If so you can just RMA it.

Hey fellow Marylander :D

Well, I called IBM, told the VERY nice gentleman about my bad pixels. He is sending me a box for me to send my ThinkPad get a new LCD. :) I just hope they actually do it.

Just wondering how these bad pixels occur over time? I used plenty of thinkpads and then only thinkpads that had dead/stuck pixels on them were straight from the factory. I must assume that this is due to a manufacturing defect.... ???

I just got my T42p with the 14" SXGA today, and no dead/stuck pixels so far (knock on wood).

its good to know they'll replace them though. IBM service is pretty good

So when you get a laptop with no dead pixels initially, what are the chances of it developing at a later time?

Same thing, what if you get a laptop that's already have one or two dead pixels. Does that mean there's a good chance of other dead pixels popping up?

Usually they are either there or not.
It's very rare that they just start popping up one here one there.
