Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 in T60
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 in T60
Is there any draw back to the Intel 950 graphics in the T60 with regard to Windows Vista, when it comes around? I seem to think I heard some reference made to a graphics card being vista-ready. Any opinions on the T60 with the Intel graphics vs the ATI Radeon w/ 64 MB? Thanks.

Thanks anyway guys... Googled my question and here is what I was hoping to learn: This is from Intel http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma950/
The new Intel® GMA 950 graphics core is an intelligent and responsive graphics engine built into the chipset that is on the motherboard. This integration provides incredible visual quality, faster graphics performance and flexible display options without the need for a separate graphics card.
Ready for Microsoft Windows* Vista*
Updated Intel® Graphics WDDM drivers supporting the Intel® 945G Express Chipset are included in the Windows Vista* February CTP build (build 5308). These drivers are only compatible with this build and should not be used with other versions of Windows Vista.
Support available for broad range of operating systems and APIs including: Microsoft* Windows* XP, Longhorn* Display Driver Model and Windows 2000, multiple Linux* OSs, DirectX* 9, Open GL* 1.4

Just because it is "Ready for Windows Vista" may not mean it is "Ready for Windows Vista (with all the sweet graphical features)"...

I just got a T60 brochure from my local dealer today and read something interesting about the built in Intel graphics chip.
It mentions that normal 6-cell battery can last up to 6 hrs with a built in chip while one with the ATI can last up to 4.3 hrs.
Can anyone confirm this? So I guess if youre totally not into graphics intensive software or occational gaming, the built in Intel 950 chip should be the better choice. Not just longer battery life but also bring the cost down.

really bad 3d performance - pleace confirm
I got my Thinkpad T60 1951-24G 3 weeks ago, yesterday I had the idea of playing good old Unreal Tournament (NOT UT2003, UT2004) as it is now 6 years old and once ran on a Ati Rage 128 with 16MB of video ram.
But here it is NOT playable!!!
I choose Direct3d as render engine
I have WindowsXP SP2 with directX 9c installed and I gor the most recent graphics driver from intel.
even in dxdiag the rotating cube is in the beginning not fluid.
besides I realiced that one of the 2 cores gos to 100% utilization during heavy 3d usage.....
This seems to me like software rendering, driver bug/issue/missing??
Can please anyone confirm this or tell me what is wrong here?
TIA
Thomas
