I need custom widescreen resolutions for external display

#1 Post by etherealtml » Sat Apr 01, 2006 12:05 am

I have my thinkpad T42 2378FVU hooked up to a LCD TV through the RGB connection. The ATI mobility Radeon/Hydravision tools recognize that my TV is a widescreen, 1280x768, but I want it to display a lower resolution of 852x480. Is there any way to enable this resolution?

Just curious, why would you not want the native resolution?

I checked my T42. Even with Omega driver which offers tons of resolution choices for VGA out, 852x480 is not available.

If you're hoping that text and such might be more easily viewed at the lower res, you might be barking up the wrong tree. Use the screen's native resolution, and use it for images, not text.

Another idea ... does your TV support a HIGHER resolution? I think mine does 1920x1080
