Port Replicator II & Extended Battery

#1 Post by greenlakechris » Sat Apr 01, 2006 6:06 am

So can you dock a T43 in the Port Replicator II, if you have the big extend-o battery in the system? From photos, it looks like there's just enough clearance, but I'm not sure.

The port replicator II has an adjustable top section (slides forward and back) to suit older models like T23's plus things like later model T4X's with 9 cell batteries.

This, the Mini-dock, and the Dock II feature a fold-down piece which moves for the 9-cell battery.

What are the differences between the docks? I just saw that one and it looks totally different from mine.

I think I have the mini-dock (it is most different because it has only ONE USB port on the back).

edit: I have the port replicator II. These videos easily show each docking system.

Dock mini has 4 usb ports, port replicator was 1 usb port. Dock II has an ultrabay, pcmcia, and 4 usb ports. The advanced dock has that plus a pci-e slot

Maybe I can clear this up...

You can put a PCI card in the Dock II. I've got a Firewire 800 card in mine. The newer "advanced" is for the newer TPs (Z60, maybe the T60).

The Port Replicator II, if you put a Kensington lock on it, it locks the undock button; [edit]so far's I know (from the manual), it has TWO USB ports wrong, David, wrong. The Mini-Dock, the undock button is locked by a key, independent of a Kensington lock, and it has 4 usb ports.

The Port Replicator II definitely has just one USB port on the rear.

Cheers,

Bill
