X31 Doesn't accept an IBM original mini-pci A/B/G card

#1 Post by RS_003 » Sun Apr 02, 2006 5:16 am

Hello,

I have an X31, (specs in my sig) with the newest embedded controller firmware, and the bios is also updated to the newest version.

But still I got an 1802 error, so I ran the no1802.com...

And then my IBM mini-pci A/B/G nic was accepted (Its an Atheros 5004X chipset)

described as having an "Atheros AR5004 4th
> generation chipset. AR5213 (MAC+BB) + AR5112 (2.4/5GHz radio)"].

So I installed it after the hack.
But it wasn't immediately recognized... so I had to download the IBM drivers, and then it is installed under the IBM mini-pci Type 2 card identification...

The problem is... it shows a Code 10 error in hardware management... so it can’t start working... :( (Tough the IBM tool it says its installed successfully)

I tried al the drivers on the net, but I always get some kind of an error, sometimes it get the yellow ! mark, or it just won't start with an code 10 error ....
(The drivers from lenovo.com ask for a strange file with lots of numbers, which nobody has and there I cannot continue the installation)

What is wrong here? It’s an flipping original IBM card... but still I can’t get it installed in my X31.

Help! :)

I Think I know what I am talking about ;)

What if I tell you it came in a sealed IBM box? ;)

And tell me ... why should that matter? Its already 1802 hacked.
So it accepts any mini-pci card anyway, its purely an driver / resources issue.

Since the Original Intel 2100-B card still works after the hack (including the wireless led)

Probably tried this, but just in case you did not:

1. Check to see if minipci is seated properly. Sometimes windows will still install hardware yet the [censored] thing is not in right. Reboot and see if that works. If not...

2. Uninstall the drivers and install them again. I have noticed that ibm machines are sensitive when it comes to swapping hardware. Also, when installing, do not let windows install automatically the drivers. Do it manually and try every single version of the drivers (even those without the green check mark).

3. Try the minipci on another machine. Maybe it is bad.

good luck

1 and 2 I tried already

3: No, I don't think so, since I have more of those cards, and they only give such errors (atleast until now) in non IBM laptops, in al the other T4x en R5x series they were installed it went smooth.
In two Asus laptops I got the same errors... so you would think the card would only work in IBM laptops ... but THIS IS A IBM LAPTOP :(
