Upgrading an X23 to 802.11G

How can do that? Just have to replace the miniPCI card?
Would an intel 2200BG card work nicely ?

1.check you lap ,whether it has the anthena.
check you lap's type online. www.ibm.com

2.if your lap has anthena.just remove the minipci card.
you can install a BG card or a ABG crad in your lap

but you can't install the card from ibm.because it can't work on your lap
maybe cards form DELL or the other bands can work on your lap

I haven't found an answer for this problem yet, although I can tell you that the Intel a/b/g card works in the X31.

I find this behavior truly puzzling as I've "upgraded" all my Intel WiFi cards for the Atheros a/b/g card and have had no problems in my T4X series machines.

Got an X31 coming in late this week or early next and I plan on doing some WiFi experiments on it, I'll keep you all informed.

I know I have the antenna since it currently has 802.11b

OK that'sgood news, really.

Is there any adove concerning the model of G card to put it in?
Are there much better things than a 2200BG? Should I look elsewhere like Atheros ?

I have an old x22 that doesn't have the wireless antenna built in. I have used a Linksys pc card (the kind that sticks out of the pmcia slot) without any problems. I can get G and, because I got the newer Linksys router and card, I can get 108.

I have an x40 which does, of course, have the antenna built in and the Intel wireless built in. Using my new (fancy) Linksys router, I can connect at 54, but as soon as I get any distance from the router and the signal is less than "excellent", it drops to the 30s, and sometimes even to 11.

I can, however, disable the internal intel/screen antenna combo and use my Linksys card instead - another wireless connection . Then I can get 108 and the signal almost never drops below that.

I know I can do that but having something coming out of an ultraportable is PITA IMO

You got an update?

I do got an update: The card I used in my X31 also gives an error in an T41
(As far as I know of, this laptop did not need the 1802 hack)

But... instead, this person did manage solve the problem.
He said he found the fix on the IBM site, but he won't tell me where, and / or how he did fix it ...

So I do know that it not only occurs on the X31 series, and that it is possible to solve (as far as I know the person also got the same Code 10 error)
