A30P mini wireless PCI card not detected by system

#1 Post by johngalt » Wed Apr 05, 2006 3:29 am

If anyone has had this situation before, I'd appreciate the help:

Just got a refurb A30P (2653-4QU) which has a mini wireless PCI network card in it (I opened it up and checked the FRU number-it's an 802-b), but the system won't detect it that I can tell. It only sees the modem. I'm suspicious that I'm doing something wrong, becuase the system has been restored to factory spec and the h/d wiped and loaded with W2K.

This item should be plainly visible under the hardware manager, no? I downloaded and installed the latest driver, and then removed and reinstalled it and it just can't seem to detect it, unless I'm doing it incorrectly. On the other hand, if it was a bad card, I would suspect that it would still show up, just not function somehow.

Any ideas on how I can force the system to see it? I've already run the hardware wizard, and no other plug and pray items show up.

If I need to buy another card, that's okay, since I'd like to upgrade to an 802g like the rest of my network anyway, I just want to make sure there isn't another problem with my system.

Thanks.

Bob

I had the same problem with a T23 lately and it turned out to be the card. If you have access to another laptop with a mini pci slot, try it there to make sure it's the card, not your machine.
