z60 with a core duo?
I'm looking to purchase a laptop with the new intel core duo. The z60 doesnt offer it but i like the form factor and size.
Is there any chance or news of these machines moving to that processor?

Z61m - coming soon. Good luck on ordering one and getting it anytime soon. The t60p was announced in Jan and orders for those are just starting to arrive. Three to Four months away I would think.
On the subject of Core Duo systems. Anyone seen some of the threads on overheating problems that were occuring on the MacBook Pro systems? Anyone validated this issue on the t60p yet? They are using the same chipset.

Re: Yes
From what I understand, the shortages of the T60 series were caused by a slow ramp of the Core Duo chips. This is why smaller outfits like Apple were able to get machines out sooner.
Intel originally planned to launch Core Duo in March, but moved the launch up to January, supposedly because the 65nm manufacturing process was healthy enough for launch.
My suspicion is that Core Duo's low initial availability was caused by more allocation of 65nm capability to the Pentium 4 and Pentium D lines. Intel was getting absolutely killed in performance and power use on those lines at 90nm, and needed 65nm P4 and PD to fight off AMD. Hence, Intel had more incentive to convert those lines to 65nm first.

Can I simply swap out my T5500 CPU in my 1953CTO T60 with a T5600? Or my T2400 core duo in my 2623D6U T60?
