Thanks.darrenf wrote:... and don't worry -- you won't owe a thing.
I'm not worried, just drained. Tech purchases used to be a geek's happy day. Now it's just part of the rest of the dull grind.
IMO, neither. Sometimes the wheels of process and procedure just grind slowly.pundit wrote:Is it customary/polite to call up and thank the corresponding reps at Lenovo or am I supposed to be annoyed that it took so long in the first place?

Excellent, it's settled then; I plan to revel in my new-found inner peace and not really think about communication with the evildoers/saviours.donking! wrote:I wouldn't call and thank them, personally. I think it's fair being annoyed. After all, they were unable for all this time to explain to you what happened and gave you a lot of bureaucratic run around. I'd feel lucky and grateful to the gods, more than thankful to Lenovo.

I've taken a(n unfortunately very) close look at the T60p, and also notched up quite some time with the MacBook Pro. I will provide a thorough (and totally not-emotionally-involved anymore) comparison when I get to know the MacBook Pro better.K. Eng wrote:A MacBook Pro!!!![]()
Let us know how it compares to the T60 when you get it.

On paper, it looks like 1--3 business days to ship and 3--5 business days post that to arrive. Which means, 3 + 5 + 'arbitrary undisclosed padding' sounds about reasonable.archer6 wrote:When do you get your MacBook Pro? Who did you decide to purchase from?

I returned my ThinkPad because Lenovo didn't tell me it was a common, negligible flaw and one that isn't a problem.defjux wrote:Let me get this straight...You returned your Thinkpad because of a negligible flaw in the corner of the screen? Wow.
I was seriously considering the 14" T60p until this whole return fiasco came up. I even recall telling the RMA person excitedly that I was itching to order it as soon as this was process.CupOfJoe wrote:I had thought you were considering the T60p 14.1" model (which is what I have on order)?

I think it's pretty much pure speculation as to who made the error. I don't see any reason it couldn't be Lenovo/IBM's fault. People seem to often express an idea in this forum that Lenovo/IBM can do no wrong. I don't understand that. They make a very good product and provide pretty good customer service, compared to what's out there. But they are hardly perfect.RaysMD wrote:seriously, do you really think the return was ibm's fault?
I've done tons of returns with ibm over the past 3 years, not once did I have a problem. I'm sure it's your banking/credit institution. Did you use a debit/check card?
This sort of post also baffles me. If you don't care why are you reading this thread let alone posting in it? There are plenty of other threads out there. Let people have the conversations they want to have.RaysMD wrote:Actually, I while I do agree with the previous member about you returning your laptop for the dark spots; I would've just returned it and not even made a fuss about it. Yes, I probably would've expressed my displeasure about it on the forums, but I would not have talked and talked and talked about it. Other people including myself have told you that it's a design flaw or just normal. It just sounds like a broken record. Return it and get over it. You just didn't like it. After you post your reply to this message, please just end this misery. actually, I probably shouldn't have even prolonged it.
