Windows XP and Media center on Apple Mac

Well, now that Apple has released Boot Camp for Dual Boot of OSX and Windows XP, I guess a lot of folks here might be tempted to get a MacBook or a Mac Mini with Windows Media Center for their living room.

I could not find any useful comparison between a solid Thinkpad and a iBook or MacBook.

Does anyone have a good link?

Boot Camp does not support XPMCE. It will probably be at least 12 hours before someone gets a hacked version running.

It does seem like it kind of settles the question of which type of computer to get if you really want to boot OS X and Windows natively. Why mess around with hacks, when you have a supported, certainly much more seamless, solution from Apple? I still don't want a MacBook, because I don't like the design as much as the ThinkPad. But I'd probably go for an Apple desktop (when there are Intel based ones available). For the moment it really puts Apple in a class of its own, I think.

Although I do also think that there is more perverse pleasure in running OS X on a ThinkPad. Mac people are generally so certain of the superiority of their system. So running Windows on a Mac for people must feel a little dirty, in a way, and like having to give into the big bad OS. Whereas, running OS X on a PC just makes the actual Apple hardware that much less special.

actually, it is very do-able. since mce is really just a special version of xp PRO then all you have to do is get everything onto one disc and you're good to go.

Simple directions (should work in theory, but have not tested, so dont blame me if they don't work for you or mess something up)
1. make ISO of both MCE CD's
2. using your favorite burning program, put the contents from CD 2 into CD 1 in a folder with its own special name that you will recognize.
3. save as your favorite format of virtual disc
4. burn onto a dvd (i recommend alcohol 120%) if the image is small enough, sure, you can go ahead and burn onto a regular cd
