Help me revive a dead 701c

#1 Post by Jumphog » Wed Apr 05, 2006 3:05 pm

I picked up a 701c last year, but when i received it it wouldnt power up. I gave it a check over (after battling with the tiny torx screws), but couldnt see anything obvious. I put it back together and left it until recently when I picked up an 8mb 75mhz cpu board for it for $30. Ive just swapped it in but unfortunately its made no difference. Its a 2630-UT5 with a hard drive and nothing else. The symptons are: no response to being plugged into power; no lights come on and the power switch has no effect. Im guessing it must be todo with the upper pcb, not the cpu pcb, but thats as far as ive got.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Just a possibility... the on-off switches on the 701's are a little
awkward you really have to push the slide forward HARD and full
to get it to turn on. I had one I thought was dead and all it needed was
a little forceful coaxing. Other than that do the usual check the
power adapter. Good luck
