T22 Powers off by itself

#1 Post by tomjeffus » Fri Apr 07, 2006 9:23 am

I have a t22 2647-NGU, 1GHZ. The machine runs for about 3 to 5 minutes and shuts down, just like you loose all power. I have replaced te Battery and the AC Power Supply. When the machine is cold it wil run for 10 to 15 minutes and then just die. When I turn the machine back on the battery indicator shows 100% charged. It does the same thing if the AC is plugped in or not.

I have read in some the posting that this is likely a mother board issure. Has anyone had this same problem?

Someone else was having a problem similar to this on a A series laptop. Generally this is a heat issue. The OP added some Arctic Silver to the processor and after a day or too the problem went away.

You can monitor the temperature of your CPU with MobileMeter.
Check if the fan is running.

Ditto with checking the CPU fan. My guess is that the problem may exist there. The Artic Silver idea is a good 2nd choice. Barring a failing capacitor on the MB, also check the HDD for heat, does it seem unusually warm? Good luck!
