2915ABG Disconnect Problems

#1 Post by Nick Y » Sat Apr 08, 2006 3:49 am

Since undertaking the opportunity presented by Windows to do a complete re-install a couple of weeks ago, I have had no end of problems with the 2915 wireless connection randomly disconnecting, powering down, etc. (It used to be quite stable, after a period of tweaking many months ago.)

Driver is 9.0.4.8; firmware 9.0.2.6; H/W is 1.1.15; Access Connections 4.11a;
2915 set to 805.11g and about 3 metres from Netgear DG834G antenna and connection 48Mbps; WBA-PSK/TKIP; BIOS 1YET60WW (1.25); TVT GINA 1.10.0.90 (whatever that is...)

I have scoured this forum/ the web/ other news groups; I have tried to find earlier drivers, as suggested elsewhere, but to no avail. Tried a later Intel driver, but that just made things worse. Re-installed driver (-including removing 1YWC54WW from C:\drivers prior to re-install.) Tried different channels, to no avail.

Any suggestions/solutions? Anyone know where the values associated with powering the wireless on are kept? Fn+F5 or Access Connections is used to turn it on/ off, but where is the result stored? (The solution is probably lost somewhere within the scatter-approach to Windows software... No doubt the equivalent to being placed in a locked filing cabinet, next to a disused toilet in the basement of an empty building... mumble, mumble, mumble....)

Should I bin the 2915 and install something a little more robust? If so, what?

TIA, Nick

Replying to my own question...

As an idea I removed Access Connections and have had stability all day!
