Hard drive won't power on/Can't get into setup menu

#1 Post by renderful » Sun Apr 09, 2006 12:35 am

I was upgrading my T40 from a 40gb to an 80gb. I imaged the drive and loaded it into the bay. Now neither disk will power up when plugged into the main drive bay of the machine. The hard drive light doesn't blink and the disks don't spin up or vibrate whatsoever.

When I put the disks in my usb enclosure they are fine. All the files show up, no problem.

When I boot my machine it doesn't get past the IBM Thinkpad graphic startup screen. If I press the Access IBM button, the text telling me to "press the blue access ibm button for the setup menu" dissapears, but I don't get the graphical setup menu, nor do I get the BIOS config. Previously, when I first put the new disk in, even though there was no OS or setup partition, it would still drop me into the BIOS setup, now I get nothing.

My system board was JUST replaced 2 weeks ago due to graphical problems. I'm fine with opening up the case to reconnect something etc...

Any ideas? A simple upgrade has turned into a disaster.

Is my machine going to have to take another 3 day vacation to IBM?
