Arrival times for KTU?

#1 Post by tolovan » Wed Jul 28, 2004 1:19 am

I finally called IBM and managed to get the Ohio EDU deal for a KTU
(~$2500+Tax) from California :D

They said it's going to take 2-3 weeks. I'm travelling to a conference
in a week and a half, and it would be great if I had my new toy
with me by then.

How long did yours take to arrive after you placed the order?
Does it really take so long?

Thanks

Tolovan, can you PLEASE tell me how you got that incredible price for a KTU????? With Mastercard discount, I can get 3200+, but NOT 2500+!!!! Any help, needless to say, will be enormously appreciated.

I called them to get an edu price quote for my school in CA. They said it's ~3200. I told them that every student in the state of Ohio can buy it for 2500, and asked what's wrong with students in CA. The rep gave me the same deal. So if your school doesn't have good deals, you should call them and ask for better deals

Tolovan, I called 1-888-SHOP-IBM but they absolutely refused to give the Ohio state price. Do you know the name of the rep you talked to? Thanks.

I called 1-800-426-1751. I don't remember any options. I told the first person that I would like to get an educational quote for a Thinkpad and he connected me to someone named Chris.

You guys are lucky. My college does not give students a code. So i can't even attempt the negotiation. My school orders the computers, at a discount they choose it seems. It is good discount but hundreds more than Ohio, Harvard and others. I wish there was a standard.
(College gives us a list of computers they have. All T42s had 512 memory so I guess they are offering faster computers, but now that I know how much less is it to upgrade memory myself. I am disappointed). It is good discount but hundreds more than Ohio, Harvard and others. I wish there was a standard.

Mine took less than a week for delivery as well. I got it about three weeks ago.
