Hello all,
I might be a little above my head here.
I bought a USB/IDE converter at a swap meet yesterday. It works great on 2.5", 3.5", and 5.25" IDE devices. But when I plug in the USB connector, I get a warning that I need to add a "HI-SPEED USB host controller", or my USB device will run at reduced speed.
For the i1300, is this possibible? Is this an internal upgrade? External upgrade? Software upgrade? I don't know. I came here first for advice. Or am I stuck running the devices at reduced speed?
Thanks,
OGPIM

Your i1300 had USB 1.1 ports. You can add a 2.0 port via the PCMCIA slot. Some even have as many as 4 additional ports, so you have plug in several things.
One small piece of warning through, especially with the age ofthe i1300, make sure that the USB 2.0 devices that you are connecting to it are not ones that "charge" via the USB port, because the extra draw for power might damage your systemboard.

Thanks!
I'll try that next!
As far as the charging, nope! Nothing yet! Will watch for that! My kit has an external P/S for 3.5 and 5.25 IDE devices. Only the 2.5" drives are powered off of the USB. I've had an old 850Mb IBM HD hooked up for the last 2 days without no probs!!
Thanks for the advice! Will look around for a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card and try it when I can.
