T40 LCD Info
What are the specs of the 14.1" LCD on my T40? (Response Time, Brightness)
And how to they compare to new thinkpad screens. My roomate has a New Sony laptop with a screen that is much brighter, and clearer.

You'll be hard pressed to find accurate specs. In general, IBM rates all their 14.1" screens on the T4x series as 150nits in brightness. And it's the same with the T60. In practice, several different panels by different manufacturers are used, and quality may differ, but they are all just average screens. The 15" SXGA+/UXGA are another story.
I wouldnt make a big deal out of it. we both know which machine is going to last longer and which one is classier.
Imagine going to a starbucks, person on your left has a sony, and the person on the right has a thinkpad. Which one person would appeare more smug?
If this is a match on brightness, just remind your bud of who made 2.6 million defective batteries for Dell and all have to be replaced. ka-boom.

Then get reminded that Dell has a habit of blaming suppliers for problems with the end system that Dell wants shipped. They started doing this a few years ago and use it primarly to try and force the suppliers to make sure all their parts play nice together whilst Dell does little to no work and collects the profits.bfgun wrote: If this is a match on brightness, just remind your bud of who made 2.6 million defective batteries for Dell and all have to be replaced. ka-boom.
IBM, Apple, and HP have all had Sony make batteries for them....Then again, Apple and HP have had some pretty major battery problems in the past.
I wonder why IBM hasn't had such problems? Surely not just excellent QA, stringent specs, and actual R&D and IEOR performed on products, alone is it?

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
