Upgrading a 600E

#1 Post by ChefJohn » Tue Apr 11, 2006 12:44 pm

I have a stock 600e with a 300 Mhz Processor. The type of my unit is a 2645 - 55U.

I have been offered this - a MMC-2 400mhz pulled from a stock 600E and 128 Mb Memory the memory is PC100mhz.
Before commiting to this upgrade is this a compatible upgrade .... I have read of some incompatabilities so before wasting the vendor's and my time any inputs or thoughts ....

Thank you[/list]

These should work just fine.

I will tell you that if you try to exceed the 400MHz processor window, you might run into some issues. The 55U was a slightly different chipset from most of the other 600Es. They even have a different BIOS.

I had no problems on mine with the 400MHz and PC100 ram. I will tell you that you will not be able to exceed the 288MB ram limit. The other 600Es can go up to 544MB ram.
