Temperature of X1400 in T60

#1 Post by Ponch » Wed Apr 12, 2006 4:08 am

Hi, I noticed that the ATI X1400 gets really hot. Even in idle it has like 64°C. Is that normal? Powerplay seems to make no difference on the temperatures.
Are your X1400 chips hot too? And How hot are the V5200 Cards?

I have X1300 (a bit lower MHz but same core) and it runs very hot too even with Powerplay enabled. Temps in normal 2D use are around 60-62 C. My CPU's (T2400) temps are 47-51 C in light use. I thought that Core Duo's should have been cooler but obviously not? These temps are from Thinkpad Fan Control.

BTW, have you managed to undervolt your CPU's? For me NHC's undervolting doesn't seem to work for some reason.

I don't tried to undervolt my CPU but I've heard that NHC is a bit buggy with the new Dual Core CPU's.
Powerplay enabled don't help the temperatures on the ATI too. I think this is strange since it clocks the chip from about 390mhz down to 210. And memory from 350 to 135mhz.
How are your clock rates on the X1300?
