Please Help Me With My T22 and New Hardware Questions

#1 Post by sdmahr » Thu Apr 13, 2006 1:58 am

Please help. I am unfamiliar with what I should be looking for in order to burn CD's, etc. What new hardware should I be looking for that will work best with the T22 Laptop I have. I can only read CD's right now. I am looking at some offers on ebay. Doe this description look like something that would be a good buy?
IBM T20 T21 T22 T23 T30 CDRW/DVD CD-RW/DVD COMBO DRIVE for $137 or how about this one:
IBM 8x DVD±RW DVDRW ThinkPad R30 R31 R32 X20 X21 X22 for $110?
Someone told me there were problems with these. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I really want to make a wise choice that will help me really utilize my laptop properly, etc.
Thanks! Susan

both are ultrabay2000 drives. either will work just fine, the "IBM T20 T21 T22 T23 T30 CDRW/DVD CD-RW/DVD COMBO DRIVE for $137" reads DVDs and burns CDs, and the "IBM 8x DVD±RW DVDRW ThinkPad R30 R31 R32 X20 X21 X22 for $110" burns both cd's and dvd's.

of the two, i would take the $110 one.
Thinkpad T60 2613-CTO (2\4m\667, 3GB, 200GB 7200, DVD-RW DL, SXGA+, 3945ABG, 128MB x1400, GBe, BT IV)
Thinkpad T40 2373-PU7 (1.7\2m\400, 2GB, 120GB 5400, DVD\CDRW, SXGA+, Intel 2915ABG, 32MB MR7500, GBe, BT II)
Thinkpad T23 2648-PS1 (1.2, 512mb, 2915ABG)

If you check the For Sale/Want to Buy Conference in this forum, you will see that Orevin has two CDRW/DVD drives that will work in your system for $40 each.

I would spend less and get the NEC drives that have been mentioned on the forum, now $70 shipped free, new, faster, plus no ebay gambling.
