Beating a Dead Horse

#1 Post by rosemarycane » Thu Apr 13, 2006 12:08 pm

I know this has been discussed before, but I just wanted to rest my fears. After updating my bios and embedded controller, my video memory now reads 256mb instead of 64mb like before.

Is this something that I should be concerned about, or is this normal behavior.

Thanks,

Sean

Normal behavior with the new HyperMemory Pre-cache system that ATI supports. You still have the same amount in terms of physical hardware, but you can now use parts of the system RAM almost as if they were part of the on-board GPU VRAM. HTH :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the quick response! One more question:

So my system was able to do this all along, but it needed the new driver to be activated? Just curious.

Thanks,

Sean
