Model number of SATA 7200RPM HD's for T60

I got my T60 from Hongkong but none of the stores there were selling 7200 RPM SATA HDs. Actually, the computer salesman at first got me a 100GB 7200RPM PATA HD but later on told me that it wouldn't fit the T60.

What's the diff between PATA and SATA? Is it size? Or the connectors?

I'm planning to buy from a US online store and use my existing 5400RPM HD as an external backup but concerned that I might buy the wrong specs.

Anyone using a 7200RPM SATA HD? Would you know the exact model number or specs I should be looking at from Seagate, Hitachi, etc ?

only difference is connectors. size is the same (2.5")

Ahh I see...since connectors are different, will SATA HD fit most 2.5" HD external casings?

only if the enclosure supports the SATA interface.

most enclosures are still PATA

My 100GB 7200 RPM SATA Hitachi HDD is 39T2649. I don't have the info on the option for the Seagate version.

zipzoomfly has the hatachi 7200's for a good price. I just got mine today and it was plug and play. the restore seems to be going fine
