What type of slots are on the side of the T60?

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't know one type of
slot from another.

Does the T60 have a Cardbus or PCMCIA slot?

I ask because I bought a Belkin Pre-N router and I
understand that using one of their Pre-N PC Card Adapters
will *greatly* increase coverage and speed.

Only thing is, it is Cardbus compatable.

It have both, in the same slot

....oh and, by the way, I'm really not sure why it should be necessary to buy another WLAN Card just because Belkin says it will work better then... After all, there is already WLAN installed in the Thinkpads.
Why don't you just try first with the existing one and deceide then

I have the Belkin Pre-N router. I usually use my laptop 4 rooms, 3 walls (some with metal reinforcements inside for earthquakes), 1 washer and 1 dryer, often running, between the router and the laptop with built in antenna. Distance from router to laptop, about as far as you can get in my house, about 55 - 60 feet. When I use the laptop at home, my kids usually play on line games using their wireless laptops elsewhere in the house. With all of that, I still routinely get download speeds of 300K - 500K, use VPN which never drops, etc. etc. etc. Before investing in a card because it's "significantly faster", perhaps what came with your TP60 will do? Maybe worth a shot... good luck!

The Belkin Pre-N router uses it's own version of 802.11n technology (in addition to backwards compatibility with 802.11abg). The ThinkPad's built in wireless card does not support 802.11n, for which there is no current agreed upon standard. The ThinkPad only supports 802.11abg.

So if you want the speed and range advantage of 802.11n, you'd need the Belkin 802.11n card to go with the router.

Most reviews I've seen do say that the Belkin 802.11n works pretty well. Of course, when you're out and about in the world, you don't need the Belkin card, because it's pretty unlikey you're going to come across other Belkin Pre-N routers in airports, cafes, businesses, etc.

All reasons why I bought the Belkin Pre-N

First of all, the router alone is VERY powerful.
However, my living room area is a good number
of feet away from the router in the upstairs office.

I just ordered the Pre-N router card because I
understand that both working together give you
AMAZING coverage.

I'll report back when I get the card.
