Is TP600 bigger than TP600E?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Is TP600 bigger than TP600E?

#1 Post by pianowizard » Thu Apr 13, 2006 6:43 pm

I just received a 266MHz TP600 (2645-51U) today, and it looks much thicker than the 600E that I used to own, although I could be mistaken. If any of you have both models, would you check for me whether they really differ in size? Thanks in advance.

I have worked on and owned several 51U TP600s, and they are the same size as the 600Es that I have worked on.

As for all of them being the same size, I am not sure....there were a few models that had a 12" display, and it might be smaller that the 13.3" models.

If it's been awhile since last using a 600 series laptop, you probably just forgot what the actual thickness was. I know that after I used my 600E for a good while, my 760ED seemed alot thicker than did last time I looked at it.

If I'm not mistaken, the bottom chassis is the same for the 600 and 600E.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick response. Yeah, I guess the 600 that I received today looks a lot bigger than the 600E (which I sold half a year ago) because I have been using ultraportable notebooks exclusively during that half year, and so I am now accustomed to these much smaller machines. BTW, both models have the 13.3" display.

Well, if you no longer like the 600 series, you can always send to me. :)

Seriously though, it's amazing how fast you get used to a nice ultraportable and how long it takes to regain feel for a larger notebook.
