updated drivers cause crashing?!

#1 Post by hnq » Thu Apr 13, 2006 11:30 pm

I updated all of my ibm software last week using the software installer. Ever since, firefox and explorer keep crashing. Firefox crashes randomly. Windows explorer also crashes randomly :(. I imaged my system before I installed the updates, I think that I'll be doing a restore....

anyone else have problems with Windows explorer randomly crashing and restarting?

Have you made sure that Firefox and IE aren't crashing of their own accord? There have been a few memory leak problems with Firefox and I know there have been more than a few with IE.

She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I didn't have any problems with firefox crashing before updating...

Also, it's WINDOWS explorer (NOT IE) that is crashing... I keep getting a "Windows Explorer has encountered and error - do you want to send information to MS" message. Then the desktop disappears and comes back, with fewer items in the sys tray. I usually have to reboot at this point because I need some of the items in the sys tray...

restored my configurations and all is well! It also got rid of that annoying QCTray message box that comes with Access Connections 4.11. I'm back to AC 3.21, :)
