pinkish tint with lower LCD brightness

#1 Post by byron » Thu Apr 13, 2006 11:37 pm

i have my LCD brightness set to 3 when running on battery... but when the LCD brightness is set like that i get a pinkish tint in the bottom left and right corners of the LCD. i just did a system board replacement... i never noticed this before and i've had this thing for a couple years now.

is this normal and i've just never noticed or do i have a bad cable... power inverter......LCD?

Pink/red is almost always a sign of an aging backlight (CCFL) inside the LCD.

yep, the CCFL is fading out.

The CCFL is covered with fluorescent layers that transform the UV light to visible light in different layers. The red (micro)pixels are the toughest ones and therefore your's is pink and in a few months/years will turn to red (visible at boot time).

That phenomenon is called "aging".
