RAM card

#1 Post by Cassirer » Fri Apr 14, 2006 6:04 am

I have a 200763G ... now it comes with 1G RAM ... but I have recieved a 500M RAM card ... short of taking the palmrest off and seeing if there is a slot ... does anyone know if there is or is there anywhere way of knowing. I would like to know there is a point to doing the work before I start out to do it ...

thanks
Steve

Its probably the promotional <free> 512mb of ram. Open the memory slot on the back of the laptop and install it.

But I thought that to install the RAM on a Thinkpad T60 you had to take off the palm rests????

what slot on the back of the laptop?

Yes, the primary memory slot is under the keyboard.

He meant to say on the BOTTOM of the unit.

Turn it over and there's a small cover over the memory slot.

FYI,

In my case, when I received my 200764U on 4/11, Free RAM(512MB) was already installed before shipping(like CTO),so I did not need to open it.

I removed the palmrest (T60-2007-73U) to add an additional 1GB of ram. Yes there are two slots under the palm rest. The bottom slot has the factory installed memory and then above it is an empty slot for consumers to add more memory. It's really easy to do. And by the way, all T60 or T60P models use the same procedure for adding memory.

Radio Shack sells a nice set of six small screwdrivers for around 5 bucks. I bought them to do my memory upgrade.
