54? That's pretty mild compared to the temps that have been reported here. My original X60s hit 61C on the APS sensor.

Anyway, call Lenovo and they will fix it. They are aware of the problem and will not put up a fuss about fixing it.

Thanks for your advice, Foodle... On another note, I'm wondering when we call up Lenovo to complain, is it okay to mention that our temps were checked using the TPfancontrol software or should I just mention it is feeling hotter and ask them to check.

Do you know if the fix can be done through on-site service, or if it requires sending the computer back?

They said they needed to replace my planar board (motherboard), so it depends on what the on-site service is capable of. I don't have on-site service, so I'm not sure. Sorry.

when you are doing normal task with WiFi ON,
surfing, lite download (not a heavy download like BT, intensive WiFi loading).
the max. APS temp it can go is ~48degC.
even lower, ~42degC if blowing with a fan, in a non air-cond room..
ambient temp ~30degC

I'm running just the Vista RC2 on my Thinkpad X60 and am wondering if there is a program to read the temperature that works in Vista. Thanks for any guidance.

I sent out my new x60s and got it back without anything fixed. Technician called me and said there is nothing wrong!! I guess he is crazy. I'm sure with this heat I can make a toast or egg fry.

Mine is intel chipset and I really don't understand why i have heat problem on this machine only. So far I used T23,T40p,X40 and X41 and had no problem at all.

Lenova is keep talking the heat is usual thing but I can't bare it anymore. I'm thinking about returning and go back to X41.

Just out of curiosity, if this is WIFI problem why I have more heat while charging? and why the heat doesn't disappear even though I turn off the WIFI switch at the front? I don't understand.
