This lightweight bag includes removable slip case, has a good air protection system, lots of pockets and very convenient shock-absorbing strap.

I borrowed my sisters Targus laptop bag (standard run-of-the-mill one shoulder strap bag) and it absolutely murdered my shoulder. If you're laptop is not light or superlight, I think it's far better to use a backpack over a shoulder bag.

I bought the Kensington Saddlebag from COMP USA for $40 + tax in NYC
just over a week ago. Seemed like a good deal as www.kensington.com was selling it for 60.

- T42 with 15'' and 9 cell battery fits really well.
- Padding on the bag is fairly adequate.
- Been caught in the rain several times and internal of bag is pretty much fine.
- Lots of room in other pockets for large items as well as bits and bobs.

Been going out and about with it all week and I highly recommend it.
I can post some pictures if anybody's interested but it might take a while since I don't always have online access.

I was surprise how efficient is elastic shock-absorbing strap. Simple idea, great results.

Do you have that spireusa bag? If so can you elaborate on how and why you like it?

I currently have the Mobil 1 case by Brenthaven. No direct link but you can find it at www.brenthaven.com then shoulder cases then apple cases. Fits my 14.1 with 9 cell very snuggly and looks like it will last 20 years easy. Unfortunately it lacks external and internal zip pockets. When I add the ac adaptor, mouse, and headphones, it gets quite crowded in the main compartment. Looking for something a little bit bigger. However i must say again how impressed i am with the build construction.

seems like the laptop grip sleeve, size small would fit the T42 14.1" perfectly. listed dimensions are: 10" x 1.5" x 12.5"

if anyone does have one of these, do you have any pics w/ the shoulder strap attached?

The powersleeeve 14 WILL hold a 14 inch t40 series with 9 cell bat no problem. I dont know about the 15 inch t42's but there does seem to be a little free room. You might want to check with the dimension from the tabook pdf and the interior dimensions from the booq website to see if it can hold a 15 incher.

Its a reasonably snug fit, but maybe a bit too snug as its pretty full when you add the power supply to the small front compartment, but then again, I didnt want a case that was bigger than the laptop and the power supply itself.

I called booqbags and they said that the powersleeve 14 would fit the 15" T42 with standard battery. It is ok on the thickness, plenty of room on the length, and 1/10" short on the width, which they said is "no problem".

How much width does the 9 cell battery add ????

According to the specs:

6 cell - 2.32" deep
9 cell - 3.19" deep

difference - 0.87"

If you are interested in getting a good quality sleeve made out of soft wetsuit material custom made for your laptop, Pouch will make it for you if you give them the dimensions. The price is very reasonable and they have quick service.

It's a backpack with many pockets and compartments. I am a student, so beside the laptop, I need room for paper, notes, some book, my ipod, cell phone, cables, water bottle, mouse, and much more. The bag holds them all. It is well padded, durable, and comfortable on my shoulder. I highly recommend it.

Wow, that thing's got some major surface area! But it looks like it does hold quite a lot of books.

But at 3.6lb, it's almost 1lb heavier than mine, and my extra weight allowance was already taken up when I decided 15" over 14"

I am looking to get a thin sleeve/slipcase for my new T42. I am looking at both the BOOQ Powersleeve 14 and the Spire Boot (vertical) [http://www.spireusa.com/products/BT4.html]. Anybody have either of these and any recommendations on either? I want to get one so that I can put it into my existing L.L.Bean backpack.

fireracer, I done't know about those two sleeves, but the zeroshock a4 (15" medium) fits a t41p or 14" t42p perfectly and provides excellent protection by itself and especially in another backpack. Sturdy and light-weight. Won't be in stock until mid-September though.

The Booq Powersleeve 14 fits the 14" T41, with either 6 or 9 cell battery. The quality is quite good, and I recommend it.

the spire boot cases are pretty basic (i have one for my PowerBook and wish I bought something else). i'd suggest the booq powersleeves instead.

the added protection of the zero shock really intrigues me, but I really like having the backpack feature. SO maybe I'll get a booqbag and a zero shock. Don't know yet though.

I've had great success with a couple of different bags, one from Trager and one from High Sierra.

The messenger bag from trager is outstanding and the best bag to protect a laptop. A couple of years ago it was rated the best bag by PC World or PC Magazine. It doesn't look or feel like your typical laptop bag which screams "I'm carrying a laptop".

The High Sierra is a little more traditional. It will hold everything plus the kitchen sink. This is the good and the bad. On a recent trip to the Middle East and Europe I loaded it down with my Dell 5100, cords, digital camera, cell phone, Pocket PC, and supplies for my speech, it had to have weighed over 20 lbs. Way too heavy.(Which is why my office manager is getting my Dell 5100 and I'm getting a T42!) But it is very well designed and ideal for those of you who need to carry tons of extra stuff when you travel. It works best when placed on top of a rolling suitcase and not lugged on your shoulder.

After looking for weeks all over this forum and the web, I got this today:

Cons:
- thin padding
- not water-proof
- made in china

Pros:
- God made Perfect fit for 14.1" t4x with 6 cell battery (9 cell won't fit)
- 3 pockets hold everything I need: ac adapter, ethernet cable and airport express

I carry it in a messenger style school bag. It suits my needs very well.
